Jesus — who soon will willingly die on a cross, during which water and blood leave his body after a Roman soldier pierces his side — completely changes the feast in front of those assembled: “If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, ‘Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.’”

Living water. Can you imagine hearing that during the feast? Living water that can fill up all the barrenness of our hearts.
