AWANA

What is Awana?

AWANA is an international ministry committed to discipling children so they can know, love, and serve Jesus for a lifetime. It’s name comes from their theme verse, 2 Timothy 2:15, and stands for Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed. The AWANA clubs at GraceWay are for children ages 3 years old thru 6th grade and meet most Fridays during the school year from 6:45-9:45PM. If you have any questions, please contact Alex Gee.

Scripture Memory

A focus point of AWANA ministries is scripture study and memorization. Each meeting the clubbers have “Book Time” where they study a workbook. The younger the group, the more the leaders guide them. But the volunteers are always there to encourage them and explain scripture. An age-appropriate lesson is presented each week for the three groups. Clubbers are also encouraged to work on their books at home as they are able.

Service & Activities

Throughout the school year the AWANA clubbers will participate in service projects such as filling “Opperation Christmas Child” shoe boxes or raising money to sponsor AWANA clubs in Africa.

A few times a year the clubbers are given the opportunity to spend the points they’ve earned in the AWANA store. Prizes vary and the children love it!

Clubbers are also invited to participate in an end-of-year activity such as a trip to Sky Zone, going hiking, or rollarskating. Christmas parties and end of the year awards are always a hit too!
