Call to Worship: Devotional (By Pastor Dan Loch)
16 But the eleven disciples proceeded to Galilee, to the mountain which Jesus had designated to them. 17 And when they saw Him, they worshiped Him; but some were doubtful. 18 And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me. 19 Go, therefore, and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to follow all that I commanded you; and behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
Matthew 28:16-20 (NASB)
Jesus has the authority to issue any number of commands to His disciples. He could have said “overthrow Rome and establish my kingdom” or “gather wealth in my name” or “devote your time soley to personal holiness”. But He doesn’t include these in the Great Commsion. Instead He says “Go and love others” for there is no greater sign of love for others than helping them grow closer to Christ. This week, share the love of Christ with everyone you meet, starting with your own family. If you don’t know where to begin, share these songs and verses with them. My prayer is that they would aid you in making disciples who make disciples.
