Call to Worship: Devotional (By Pastor Dan Loch)
8 Now if we have died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him, 9 knowing that Christ, having been raised from the dead, is never to die again; death no longer is master over Him. 10 For the death that He died, He died to sin once for all time; but the life that He lives, He lives to God. 11 So you too, consider yourselves to be dead to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus.
Romans 6:8-11 (NASB)
We all face a common enemy named Death. We try and hold him off for as long as we can, with medicine, exercise, diets, and a whole host of other delaying tactics yet he always seems to get his way in the end. That is, until we consider what happened at the cross. There, Jesus submitted Himself to the point of death, was buried, but then rose again three days later! What makes this great news for us is that He promises the same resurrection to all those who believe in Him. By ourselves, we will never defeat death, but through Christ we have the victory.
