12 Blessed is the man whom You chasten, O Lord,
And whom You teach out of Your law;13 That You may grant him relief from the days of adversity,
Until a pit is dug for the wicked.14 For the Lord will not abandon His people,
Psalm 94:12-14 (NASB)
Nor will He forsake His inheritance.
In 1st Corinthians 3:20 Paul quotes Psalm 94:11 “The Lord knows the reasonings of the wise, that they are useless”. Paul knows that no amount of worldly wisdom will earn him favor with God. The Psalmist agrees and contrasts the uselessness of worldly wisdom with the blessedness of those who submit to the Lord’s Word. Those who submit to God’s word, especially those who surrender their worldly wisdom to believe the Gospel, experience the great joy of belonging to Christ. Then those who belong to Him can hold to the steadfast assurance that He will not forsake His inheritance. As Paul writes in Romans 8:39, nothing will separate us from the Love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
